"Tea Time"
On Saturday, December 3rd, our own Carol Kotel-Lyne (3rd from right) hosted a group of interior design professionals at a High Tea holiday party held at Old Victorian Farmhouse in Wauconda, IL. The ladies donned their finest headwear and partook of various finger foods and scones, all while sipping a sumptuous selection of fine teas. All in all, it was a grand fashion in which to celebrate the holiday season.
MID-AMERICA TILE...GOING STRONG AT 50!
2011 is a very special year here at Mid-America Tile as it marks the 50th Anniversary of our company. Who could have guessed back in May, 1961 when we opened our first store in a small strip center off Milwaukee Avenue in Niles, IL that we would still be here 50 years later with two large showrooms, two warehouses totaling over 90,000 sq.ft., and an unparalleled reputation for product quality and superior customer service?
It didn't take us very long to outgrow our first home in Niles. In 1968, we moved to a 40,000 sq. ft. space at 1890 Lunt Avenue in Elk Grove Village. At the same time, construction was completed on a 20,000 sq. ft. location at 4809 W. 128th Place in Alsip, giving us a presence in both the northern and southern sections of the Chicago area. But we were far from finished.
1989 brought a move from Lunt Avenue to our current headquarters location at 1650 Howard Street in Elk Grove Village, the northwest corner of Busse Road and Howard Street. Besides being our corporate headquarters, this location also spotlights a full-size showroom and over 73,000 sq. ft. of warehouse.
1994 saw more changes for Mid-America Tile. In January of that year, we became the exclusive area distributor for Florida Tile. Florida Tile had three locations in the area: Elk Grove Village, Mundelein and Romeoville. Mid-America Tile assumed the leases for Mundelein and Romeoville. Our Alsip branch moved to Romeoville at 1404 Joliet Road. There we stayed until 2000 when we purchased a building just down the street at 1412 Joliet Road. This location spotlights another full-size showroom along with over 16,000 sq. ft. of warehouse.
While our locations may have changed over the years, our commitment to our customers has never wavered. As our company president, Thomas J. Kotel states, "At Mid-America Tile, your complete satisfaction is our goal. We continue to meet that goal by offering the highest quality products with unsurpassed customer service. PRODUCT DEMO NIGHT A SMASH
On Wednesday, March 2nd, more than two dozen contractors and installers visited our Elk Grove Village showroom after hours to take part in pizza, pop and product demonstrations. Attendees were treated to the proper use of the Tuscan Leveling System by its inventor, Mick Volponi; the advantages of using the proper setting material for large format and thin tile by Tyler Barton of MAPEI; and a full overview of VanHearron sealers and cleaners by the company founder and CEO, John VanGorder. As the evening's activities drew to a close, one satisfied participant was heard to say, "I learned more tonight than I have in the last 10 years combined".
MID-AMERICA TILE & VAN HEARRON REACH AGREEMENT
Mid-America Tile has announced an EXCLUSIVE distributorship agreement with VanHearron Sealers and Cleaners. Under terms of this agreement, Mid-America will be the sole distributor of VanHearron products in Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and Wisconsin.
VanHearron manufactures (right here in the U.S.A.) industrial strength sealers and cleaners using their own patented surfactant. VanHearron's water-based deep penetrating technology penetrates as deep or deeper than solvent-based sealers yet remains environmentally friendly with low or no VOC's.
Wedi Corp. Cites Mid-America Tile
Wedi Corp. recently presented Mid-America Tile with a certificate in recognition of "Outstanding Sales Performance and Partnership" for 2010. Bastian Lohmann, Director of Sales for Wedi, states,"We feel that part of the reason why Mid-America has earned this award for two years in a row is that they really saw the core of what wedi systems are all about: a fully equipped, fully warranted and most customizable yet fastest possible shower installation system. Architects and Designers Earning CEU Credits
Mid-America Tile offers a monthly program to help Architects and Design professionals earn CEU credits for AIA (American Institute of Architects). Each month, we are hosting accredited presentations put on by an array of industry experts such as MAPEI, Wedi Corp., Florida Tile, Johnsonite and others. These FREE educational opportunities have been met with great enthusiasm from the architectural community.
